Ministerial Advisory Board for Youth Development and Empowerment Inaugurated
The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has inaugurated its Ministerial Advisory Board, marking a major step in strengthening youth-focused policy planning and implementation in Ghana.
The ceremony, held on Monday, 10 November 2025, at the Ministry’s conference room in Accra, was led by the sector Minister, Hon. George Opare Addo, who administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy to the newly appointed members.
In his remarks, Hon. Opare Addo urged the Board to approach its work with purpose and commitment, emphasizing that it is not “just another statutory body” but a key advisory mechanism established by law to shape youth development policy. He said the Board must drive innovative, practical, and inclusive strategies that address critical areas such as education, skills training, entrepreneurship, and civic participation.
He described Ghana’s young population as the backbone of national development and called for forward-looking recommendations that would create tangible opportunities for them. “This Board must serve as a think tank for the Ministry, ensuring that government interventions remain relevant and impactful,” he stated.
Members of the Board pledged their commitment to support the Ministry in designing and executing policies that empower young people to thrive in a competitive global economy.
The Ministerial Advisory Board is chaired by Hon. George Opare Addo, with Mrs. Emma Ofori Agyemang, Chief Director of the Ministry, serving as a member. Other members include Mr. Hamidu Adakurugu (Esq), Chief Director at the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment; Prof. George K.T. Oduro, Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education; and Ms. Faustina Acheampong, Director of the Department of Gender at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

Also on the Board are Mr. Sherif Ghali, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs; Ms. Betty Simawua Annan, Country Director of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa; Mr. Nii Dodoo Dodoo, Country Director of the British Council in Ghana; and Ms. Esi Mansa Oklu, Director of General Administration at the Ministry, who serves as Secretary to the Board.
The inauguration marks the beginning of a new phase in Ghana’s youth development agenda—one anchored on collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based policy guidance.
