Government Launches Ghana Labour Exchange Programme to Create Safe Overseas Employment Pathways for Young Ghanaians
The Government of Ghana has officially launched the Ghana Labour Exchange Programme, a new initiative aimed at expanding employment opportunities for young Ghanaians through safe, legal, and structured labour migration.
Launched on 15 July 2026, the programme is a collaboration between the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment and the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, with the goal of connecting qualified Ghanaian workers to international job opportunities while protecting them from fraudulent recruitment practices.
Creating Safe Pathways to International Employment
The Ghana Labour Exchange Programme seeks to establish government-led labour mobility arrangements that will enable skilled Ghanaians to access employment opportunities abroad through regulated and transparent processes.
According to the Ministry, the initiative is intended to reduce irregular migration by providing young people with legitimate pathways to work overseas under agreed labour standards and protections.
