Pitch and Pocket GHC 30,000: MTN Throws Open Its World MSME Day Challenge to Ghana’s Hustlers

Jun 25, 2026

ACCRA — For the young entrepreneur who has spent two years grinding to keep a business alive, MTN has put a number on the table that is hard to ignore: GHC 30,000 in cash, plus a package of business products — all for the boldest pitch in the room.

The telecoms giant has launched the MTN World MSME Day Business Pitch, a competition timed to mark its 30th anniversary and to celebrate the micro, small and medium enterprises that form the backbone of Ghana’s economy. The message to the country’s youth is simple: come and pitch, and win.

What is on offer

The headline prize is GHC 30,000, handed to the winning business — but the money is only half the story. MTN is bundling the cash with product support drawn from its business suite, the same tools it says larger firms use to grow: Business Eye, Yello Biz and Adwumapa.

The pitch, in other words, is not just for a cheque. It is for a cheque plus the digital infrastructure to put it to work.

Who can apply

This is where applicants must be honest with themselves. MTN has set a clear bar:

  • Your business must have been operating for at least two years. Brand-new startups and side ideas that have not yet taken root do not qualify this time round.
  • You must submit a business pitch.
  • You must provide proof of registration — your business must be formally registered, not informal.
  • Critically, your pitch must show clearly how MTN’s products (Business Eye, Yello Biz and Adwumapa), combined with the GHC 30,000, will take your business to the next level.

That last point is the one most applicants will overlook. MTN is not simply asking what your business does — it wants to see that you understand its tools and have a concrete plan to grow with them. A vague “I will expand” will not cut it. Spell out the how.

How to enter

The process is refreshingly direct. Email your submission to: mtnbusiness.gh@mtn.com

Make sure your email carries your business pitch and your proof of registration. Treat the email itself as your first impression — clear subject line, tidy attachments, a pitch that gets to the point.

Mark these dates

This is a fast-moving opportunity, so do not sit on it:

  • Submission deadline: 27th June, 2026
  • Presentation deadline: 29th June, 2026
  • Venue: Kempinski Hotel, Accra

The two-day gap between submission and presentation tells you something important — shortlisted entrants will likely be called to pitch in person. So do not only write a strong email; be ready to stand and defend your idea before a panel.

A word to the young entrepreneur

Opportunities like this reward the prepared, not the lucky. If your business is two years old, registered, and you can articulate a sharp growth plan, you are already in the running. Pull your documents together, sharpen your numbers, and write a pitch that answers one question above all: what will you build with GHC 30,000 and MTN’s tools that you could not build without them?

The deadline is days away. The hesitant will miss it. The ready will be at Kempinski.
