African Union Opens Applications for Free Online Digital Skills and Entrepreneurship Training

Young people across Africa, including Ghana, are invited to apply for the African Union CIEFFA Online Capacity Building Training 2026, a fully funded online programme designed to equip participants with practical skills in digital literacy, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and gender-responsive education.

The programme is jointly organised by the African Union International Centre for Girls’ and Women’s Education in Africa (AU CIEFFA) and ImpactHER under the theme:

“#AfricaEducatesHer – Digital Skills for All: Bridging the Gender Gap in STEAM, Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship.”

About the Programme

The month-long online training aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical skills in areas that are increasingly important in today’s digital economy.

Participants will receive training in:

  • Digital skills
  • Entrepreneurship and business development
  • Financial literacy
  • Gender equality in and through education
  • STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) awareness

The programme has already trained more than 12,500 young people from 55 African countries and participants from over 30 countries outside Africa.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be an African citizen (including Ghanaians).
  • Reside either in Africa or the African diaspora.
  • Demonstrate an interest in digital skills, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
  • Have access to a reliable internet connection and a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
  • Be able to understand English, French, or Portuguese.
  • Show leadership potential and an interest in promoting girls’ and women’s education.

Benefits

Successful applicants will receive:

  • ✅ Fully funded online training
  • ✅ Certificates in each completed learning track (subject to attendance requirements)
  • ✅ Membership in the AU CIEFFA and ImpactHER networks
  • ✅ Increased chances of being invited to future fully funded in-person programmes organised by AU CIEFFA
  • ✅ Practical knowledge that can support employment, entrepreneurship, and leadership development

Participants who complete at least 60% of each learning track will be eligible for certificates.

Programme Schedule

Selected participants will be placed into training cohorts.

Each cohort will participate in a one-month online programme.
